Professor Thierry PATRICE
As well as being the Director of the Research Team in Laser Technology at the "Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes, France", Dr.Patrice is equally the President of The I.P.A., (The International Photodynamic Association), which held its last seminar in July 1998, at Nantes. Some 600 Professional Medical delegate were present, representing more than thirty different countries of the world. Researchers ; Doctors ; Clinicians ; and representatives of several International Pharmaceutical Groupes : All of whom appreciated the latest Technological Advances in Laser Medicine, and Photo-Chemotherapy.

INTERVIEW BETWEEN DOCTOR PATRICE AND C.E.N.A.L.O.S.
CENALOS : Professor, has the date for the next congress been decided yet ?
Pr PATRICE : Yes. It will be held in July 2001, in Vancouver, Canada.
CENALOS : In 1998, you announced to the press, a success rate of some 85 %, for most E.N.T. Cancers. Is this figure still valid ?
Pr PATRICE : Absolutely !
CENALOS : What are the countries of origin of the Lasers that you use in your clinic ?
Pr PATRICE : We have American Diode Lasers, as well as English and German Machines, with a wavelenght of 630 or 650 nm.
CENALOS : Are you the only ones using this method ? (picture)
Pr PATRICE : No ! At least 5 or 6 other research teams are using this PDT. Method, and some 4 or 5 others, are using it for Experimental Research.
CENALOS : They appear to be both lightweight and inexpensive, when compared to many traditional machines. Does this imply that certain "Third World" Countries may interest themselves in the technique also ?
Pr PATRICE : Both India and Africa are interested. I will be visiting West Africa next year, and following that, Cuba.
CENALOS : Do you also have connections in the United States ?
Pr PATRICE : Yes ! I am in contact with certain American University Laboratories, regarding the development of new machines. The ALA, will keep us informed of the advances in the early detection of certain Cancers : Notably for "High Risk Subjects", such as heavy smokers. Detection may also be a new role for Dentists, if they possess the appropriately adapted machines.
CENALOS : Thank you, Professor, for this interview, and the information that you have given us.
